The sticker on the bow is deceptive. The Mariner 20 does not cost 11,680 euros; that would be a real bargain. With tax and freight, the price is 14,500 euros. But even so, the small cruiser from Poland remains very affordable.

The boat, which is available with either a fixed or swivelling keel as well as a ballast centreboard, is being launched fully equipped. Two adults and two children can use it for weekend or holiday cruises. And quite comfortably too. Two large forecastle boxes under the thwarts can hold lots of equipment. This keeps the cabin free for living and sleeping.

The trailer boat does not even require a particularly powerful towing vehicle. With an unladen weight of between 950 and 1050 kilograms - depending on the keel variant - a mid-range car is sufficient. A mast-laying device is also available on request, making slipping a matter of a few simple steps.

The Mariner 20 celebrates its world premiere at the Interboot. It is modelled on the 24 and adopts its appealing lines. During development, designer Wojciech Spisak emphasised easy handling combined with good sailing characteristics.

The model series is imported by Werner Häfele, whose portfolio also includes the Hunter and Island Packet brands. Hence the close proximity between the largest cruising boat at the Friedrichshafen trade fair, the Hunter 50 CC (more about this on Sunday) and the smallest in Hall A1.
